The Forge Behind the Fire

Look, I'm not gonna feed you some polished origin story. Back in 2018, I was tired of the whole "gym culture" BS - you know, the mirrors everywhere, folks taking selfies between sets, equipment that looked pretty but couldn't handle real weight.

I'd spent 15 years competing in strongman circuits across Canada and the States. Won some, lost some, broke my collarbone twice and tore my meniscus once. But what really got me thinking was training in these commercial gyms where nobody seemed to actually WANT to get stronger - just look stronger.

So I cashed in everything. Found this old warehouse space in Vancouver's industrial district - the landlord thought I was crazy wanting a place with concrete floors and high ceilings instead of fancy finishes. That's how Frostwyrm was born.

Named it after an old gaming reference from my younger days - yeah, I'm that kind of nerd who benches 400 and plays RPGs. The "Frostwyrm" thing stuck 'cause it represents something powerful, ancient, and honestly pretty intimidating if you're not ready for it.

We started with just bars, plates, and a few platforms. No AC that first summer - just industrial fans and a lot of chalk dust. But the people who showed up? They got it. They weren't here for the amenities. They came to work.

Seven years later, we've trained provincial champions, helped folks go from their couch to their first competition, and built something that feels more like a tribe than a gym. That's what I'm proud of.

What We're Actually About

Here's the deal - we're not for everyone, and that's completely fine. If you want smoothie bars and eucalyptus towels, there's like 20 places within walking distance that'll hook you up. But if you wanna get genuinely strong and push past what you thought you could do? Pull up a chair.

What Drives Us Every Day

Real Progress Over Everything

We track actual numbers - weight on the bar, seconds off your time, depth in your squat. Social media likes don't mean squat here (pun intended). Your PR board tells the real story.

Community That Actually Gives a Damn

You'll know everyone's name within a month. We spot each other, celebrate PRs together, and yeah - we grab beers after tough training blocks. This ain't a "hi and bye" kind of place.

Technique Before Ego

I don't care how much you lifted at your old gym. We're starting with form, building the foundation, then loading the weight. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast, fast is strong.

No Cookie-Cutter Programs

Your body's different. Your goals are different. Your life outside the gym is different. So why would your program be the same as the person next to you? We customize everything.

Recovery Isn't Optional

You don't get stronger in the gym - you get stronger recovering from the gym. We program rest days, mobility work, and teach you when to push and when to back off.

Our Coaching Philosophy

Every coach here has competed at provincial level or higher. We're not reading from textbooks - we've lived this stuff. Failed lifts, breakthrough moments, injuries, comebacks... we've been through it.

We don't yell motivational stuff at you like you're in a movie montage. Instead, we watch your movement patterns, adjust your programming when life gets hectic, and keep you accountable without being jerks about it.

Most importantly? We meet you where you're at. First time touching a barbell? Cool. Coming back after 10 years off? We got you. Training for nationals? Let's get to work.
